Elder Recommendations

We are in the process of seeking the men God would raise up to serve as elders in 2025, alongside our existing elders. Recommendation forms containing the scriptural qualifications and position description are available at the Connections Desk, or you can download the 2025__ELDER_RECOMMENDATION_FORM.pdf to print and complete.

Church members may prayerfully complete the forms (one per recommendation) and return them to the church office or the Connections Desk.  

All completed forms must be returned by next Wednesday, November 20. 

Decorating for Christmas

We are preparing for the Christmas season, and are putting a team together to decorate our beautiful church for the holidays!  

We need men and women to help on Wednesday, November 20 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm; on Thursday, November 21 starting at 9:00 am; and on Friday, November 22 starting at 9:00 am (if still necessary).

Operation Christmas Child

Shoeboxes and information on packing them are available for pick up at the OCC table in the Gathering Hall.

Last day to turn in filled shoeboxes is Sunday, November 24.

National Collection Week is November 18-25. Christ Baptist is a local collection center during that week, and many volunteers are needed.  Sign up at the OCC table in the Gathering Hall, or via this link to a Sign-Up Genius At that site, you will find out what times and volunteer positions are available, including volunteer responsibilities.  You may also sign up by using the QR code shown below.

Surviving the Holidays

If you are facing the challenges of grief facing the holidays without your loved one, this Surviving the Holiday seminar will give you tools to help you cope. Join us for a stand-alone, two hour informative session this Saturday, November 16, from 10:00 am until noon.  You do not need to have attended the GriefShare classes in order to join us.  Cost is $5 per person.  Please register ahead of time at christbaptist.org/survivingholidays 

Thanksgiving Feast and Blessings

Please register for this year's Thanksgiving Feast and Blessings Testimony Service, being held on Sunday, November 24 at 5:30 pm. We need to determine amount of meat we need to reserve and number of people we can accommodate. Make plans to join us to enjoy fellowship and good food, and share God's blessings with one another.  Registration ends next Tuesday, November 19. 

The church will provide turkey, ham, dressing and gravy. dressing and gravy. On your registration, please indicate what you can bring (favorite trimmings, holiday specialty dishes, vegetables, casseroles, salads, desserts).  Please make enough for two families.

If you have children newborn - 5 yrs old, they will remain with you for the meal, and must be included in this reservation. After the meal, childcare (for children 5 years old and younger) is available with advance reservation. 

Baby Dedication Sunday

We will have Baby Dedication during worship on Sunday, November 24.  If you would like to participate in this special event, please notify Tillie Turlington as soon as possible.  At the same time, please send three pictures of your child, with child's full name, date of birth, and parents' names to Jane Brown so we can prepare for your family to be a part of this Baby Dedication.  Information must be received by Tuesday, November 19th.

Missions Prayer Focus

Pray for Grace Home, a ministry of Prison Aftercare Christian Ministries.  Grace Home is a ministry to women who have been released from prison, using an 18-moth program to assist in transition. Each resident must have a job and agree to a set of rules, which includes meeting together for devotions and attending church.  Pray for additional volunteers to help in the support of the facility and for mentors for the women. Pray for wisdom as they seek God's direction regarding the application of another prospective resident and her integration into the program, if invited.

Update on Disaster Relief Donations

Thank you for your special contributions during our Disaster Relief period of giving.  Because of your generosity, and additional donations received, Christ Baptist was able to distribute $20,438.00 between Samaritan's Purse and NC Baptists on Mission for use in recovery efforts in western North Carolina.
